CORE VALUES
Westwood has identified five core values. We are on a journey as we integrate these core values and make decisions through that lens. This is a journey because it is always evolving. These core values have been around longer than any of us, and are the places we seek to make real, measurable change.
A church is an ideal place for this work.
-
We can take a long view and provide the resources these areas need over time.
-
With the unique gifts that individuals bring, we can engage every decade of our population in this work.
-
Our beliefs drive and sustain our efforts. As people of faith, we ground this work in our deepest convictions.
We are called into spaces to learn and listen, to be allies, witnesses, and advocates; to provide resources and a platform, to name, as the prophets did, a vision for what God wants—to help create a beloved community. At Westwood, we want to live out the idea of Ubuntu: "I am because we are."
Westwood Advocacy Policy
Part of Westwood's vision is to be an advocate for a healthy community. This includes working and advocating for justice, striving to eliminate inequalities that remain in our society. Westwood has established a formal advocacy policy. Click below to read the policy or to watch a video about what it means.
Take The Journey With Us
New voices are always welcome on this journey, and encourage you to reach out to be part of the work. At Westwood, we encourage and believe it is our role to live out God's work in the world as part of our vocation.
