Sunday, April 24      GET PAID at Church and MULTIPLY IT!

Sunday, May 22       Return what you made and CELEBRATE!

In the Bible story, the Parable of Talents, people are given various amounts of money to go and multiply it!

Westwood takes that parable literally!

Sunday, April 24   GET PAID at Church and MULTIPLY IT!

April 24 after worship, pick up your envelope with cash and stop by the Commons to find out, if you are a Thrivent Member, how you can get another $250 from a Thrivent Action Grant and purchase youth cinnamon rolls!  Watch Enews and our social media to see videos of what ideas people are coming up with!

Everyone participating will either receive $5, $10, $20, $50, or $100 (totaling $10,000 handed out). You will have 4 weeks to multiply it using your creative skills and ideas, and then bring the money back to our celebration on Sunday, May 22.

When we did this Challenge back in 2018, we handed out $10,000 in cash and got back over $60,000 to support a dental clinic in Tanzania.  With those dollars, the clinic hired staff and offered free dental care to hundreds of children!

Upcoming speakers as we prepare for

We are excited to welcome the following people to give more information on the Rise Early Learning Center initiative.

April 24:  "Why High-Quality Early Learning is Critical to Our Economy" with Art Rolnick, Associate Economist at the University of MN and the former Director of research at the Federal Reserve.

May 1:  Meeting our Partners: Way to Grow + Common Bond Communities

Carolyn Smallwood, CEO of Way to Grow

Cecile Bedor, Common Bond Communities Executive Vice President of Real Estate

May 8:  Learning more about Rise Early Learning Center with the Board Members

(Sunday's in the Sanctuary from 9:50-10:30 AM and Livestreamed)

Where will the multiplied money go?

Westwood has been the catalyst for Rise Early, a new 501c3 affordable childcare center that will be located in an affordable housing development being built on Highway 7.  Of the 62 spots available for children, half of them will be subsidized. These dollars (different than the Appeal monies which will go to scholarships) will go for toys and books for the classrooms.
